Farisha Islam
Farisha is one of our psychologists here at Minds & Hearts who primarily works with older adolescents (16+), young adults, and adults. She has a particular focus on neurodiversity, including Autism and ADHD, as well as attachment disruptions. Her work centres on supporting individuals to build a secure sense of self, manage anxiety effectively, and thrive in areas they value, such as relationships, academics, career, and social functioning.
Since joining Minds & Hearts in 2019, Farisha has focused on ongoing treatment, facilitated neurodiverse-focused groups, and conducted diagnostic assessments. She has had the privilege of learning from experts such as Dr. Tony Attwood and Dr. Wesley Turner, which has further deepened her passion for helping clients navigate their unique challenges. Farisha is driven by her desire to help people build confidence, self-awareness, and resilience, supporting them in developing long-term skills for overall well-being.
Farisha’s therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Farisha earned her First Class Honours in a Bachelor of Psychological Science from the University of Queensland in 2018 and received a Dean’s commendation for academic excellence that same year. She is a generally registered psychologist and currently holds a lead clinician role in diagnostic assessments at Minds & Hearts. Farisha is also working towards accreditation to become a supervisor and hopes to soon pursue Schema Therapy accreditation.
