Nicole Kelly is a Psychologist who works with children from age 4, adolescents, and adults, with a particular focus on children and adolescents. While she works with clients across the lifespan, she particularly enjoys supporting young people and their families, helping them navigate neurodevelopmental and mental health difficulties, including Autism, ADHD, Specific Learning Disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, and depression. She also supports families with emotional and behavioural regulation, parenting strategies, and overall psychosocial wellbeing.
Her clinical approach integrates evidence-based interventions tailored to each individual’s needs. She works with modalities including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) strategies, and behavioural interventions, while also drawing on principles from Schema Therapy to support understanding of intrapersonal and interpersonal dynamics. Nicole is a certified Circle of Security – Parenting Program facilitator and will be completing training in Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), reflecting her commitment to attachment-informed practice and ongoing professional development.
Her journey into allied health began as a Mental Health Support Worker and Psychosocial Recovery Coach while completing her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Criminology and Criminal Justice. She later worked at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre as a Youth Worker and Psychologist, supporting young people aged 9-20 with complex neurodevelopmental, mental health, and trauma-related needs. These roles strengthened her commitment to early intervention, family-centered care, and holistic support.
Nicole holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science, a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), with an Honours thesis exploring how Dark Triad personality traits predict aggression in young adults. During her Masters of Professional Psychology at Griffith University, Nicole completed a placement at Minds & Hearts, gaining hands-on experience in assessment and intervention across developmental and mental health presentations. She then continued at Minds & Hearts for her internship year, providing assessment and intervention, while collaborating with schools, health professionals, and support services to deliver coordinated, individualised care.
Nicole’s passion is early intervention, neurodevelopmental assessment, and supporting families with complex child and adolescent presentations. She is guided by a belief in empowering clients and families to navigate challenges, build resilience, and achieve meaningful outcomes.
