Provisional Psychologist (University Placement)
Please note that we also regularly host a Master of Clinical Psychology Student (from either University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology or Griffith University) who can provide services at a reduced rate.
These Provisional Psychologists are completing their final 6th year of university training and have completed placements at their respective university clinics. They have regular weekly supervision with the clinic directors where all their cases and therapy plans are reviewed as part of their training.
Given the 6-month tenure of the role, our administration staff can provide you with up-to-date information about our current provisional psychologists intern when asked via the Contact Form.
Sage Ziman
I am a Provisional Psychologist, and I work with young children, adolescents, adults, and parents, helping them navigate life’s challenges with empathy and care. My areas of expertise include ADHD, trauma, binge eating disorder, stress management, interpersonal difficulties, depression, and substance use. I also have a special interest in supporting migrants as they adjust to new environments and cultural dynamics.
My journey in allied health began with support work for children with disabilities, where I learned the importance of understanding individual needs. This led me to work as a youth worker for adolescents in residential care, supporting them through complex challenges. From there, I transitioned into motivational interviewing coaching, helping individuals build self-efficacy and make meaningful changes in their lives.
These experiences provided me with valuable insights into autism, acute mental health presentations, relational distress, and substance use. Working in both public and private settings deepened my interest in one-on-one therapy, leading me to pursue psychology further.
As a Provisional Psychologist at QUT Health Clinics and now at Minds & Hearts, I’ve had the privilege of working directly with clients and witnessing the power of therapy. I value creating a sense of safety and trust through a relational approach and am dedicated to fostering strong therapeutic relationships.
I use an integrative, evidence-based approach, and I find the most rewarding aspect of my work is seeing positive change unfold. I am especially passionate about working with children and their families, supporting their growth and healing.
I am committed to continuous learning and professional development. My training includes:
- Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (24h) with the Brisbane Centre for Attachment and Relationships
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders with Queensland Eating Disorder Service (QuEDS)
- Motivational Interviewing Coach Training (60h) from Seaport Psychological Sciences Centre (approved by the American Psychological Association)
I also hold the following certifications:
- Counselling on Access to Lethal Means (ZeroSuicide Institute)
- Youth Mental Health First Aid Accreditation (Mental Health First Aid Australia)
- Illicit Drug Harm Reduction Training (DanceWise)
I wrote my thesis on “Therapeutic Outcomes of Naturalistic Psychedelics Use: Novel Insights into Self-Efficacy, Intrinsic Aspirations, and Benefits of Healing Intentions on Wellbeing” under Vince Polito’s supervision in 2023. My research reflects my interest in exploring innovative therapeutic approaches and understanding the complexities of human wellbeing.
I am dedicated to helping my clients navigate their mental health journeys with compassion, evidence-based strategies, and a genuine commitment to their growth and healing.
